The fine print
The 24-Hour Test Drive ("Program") allows approved customers to borrow a designated vehicle from Mainland Motors ("Dealership") for up to twenty-four (24) consecutive hours to evaluate it before a potential purchase. Participation is free and carries no obligation to buy.
Participants must: be at least 20 years of age; hold a valid, non-probationary Class 5 (or equivalent full) driver's licence valid in British Columbia; have held a full licence for at least 12 months; present valid government photo ID; and pass the Dealership's verification and approval. The Program is offered at the Dealership's sole discretion and may be declined to anyone for any lawful reason.
All bookings are requests only, subject to vehicle availability and approval. The Dealership confirms the pickup time and vehicle. Bookings are non-transferable. Limit one vehicle per customer, and one participation per 90-day period unless otherwise approved.
At the Dealership's discretion, a refundable security deposit of $500 may be required at pickup (pre-authorized on a credit card or paid by debit). Where taken, the deposit is returned in full once the vehicle is returned on time and in the same condition as at pickup. The Dealership may apply the deposit only toward loss or cost arising from the customer's breach of these Terms (for example, prohibited use, damage caused by misuse, or failure to return the vehicle). There are no other charges under this Program.
The period is 24 hours from the documented pickup time. The vehicle must be returned to the Mainland Motors Abbotsford lot by the agreed time, in the condition received. The Dealership does not charge late fees.
The vehicle must remain within British Columbia (the Lower Mainland & Fraser Valley) and must not be taken across the Canada–U.S. border.
Normal, lawful personal road use only. Prohibited: operating under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or drugs; racing, speed-testing, or off-road use; towing or hauling; commercial, delivery, or ride-share use; smoking or vaping inside; transporting pets without prior approval; permitting any person other than the approved, listed driver to operate the vehicle; and removing or modifying any part of the vehicle.
The vehicle is insured by the Dealership while in the customer's possession, subject to that policy's terms. The Dealership covers insured loss or damage arising from ordinary use during the period. The customer remains responsible only for loss or damage that is not covered by that insurance — for example, loss arising from prohibited use, impaired or unlawful operation, or other breach of these Terms.
The customer must immediately report any accident, damage, theft, or mechanical issue to the Dealership at (604) 744-2009 and, where required, to police, obtaining a police file number and not admitting fault. The vehicle must not be driven if unsafe. No extra charge applies for damage covered under the Dealership's insurance.
Please return the vehicle with a similar fuel or charge level to pickup. No fuel charge applies.
Please return the vehicle reasonably clean. No cleaning charge applies.
The customer remains responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, tolls, or fines they incur while in possession of the vehicle. These are issued by third parties, not by the Dealership.
The Program is an evaluation opportunity only and is not an agreement to sell or purchase. Vehicle availability, pricing, and financing are separate and subject to approval.
By participating, the customer consents to the Dealership collecting and using their personal information to administer the Program and to contact them about vehicles and offers, in accordance with BC PIPA and PIPEDA. See our Privacy Policy for details.
The Dealership may cancel or modify a booking at any time. Repeated no-shows may affect eligibility. To cancel your test drive, please call the Dealership at (604) 744-2009.
To the extent permitted by law, the customer agrees to indemnify and hold the Dealership harmless from claims, damages, or costs arising from their use of the vehicle during the period, except to the extent caused by the Dealership's negligence.
The Dealership may amend or withdraw the Program and these Terms at any time without notice.
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
By booking, the customer confirms they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
